A costume design inspired by the Kunqu opera The Peony Pavilion, bringing together traditional Chinese paper folding, paper-cutting and embroidery to explore and reimagine a living heritage. It speaks of women under the constraints of feudal codes, breaking out of their cage in pursuit of selfhood and a better life.
